Everything Screen Doors & More is a home improvement business offering screen doors, among other products, to residential customers across the Illawarra. Despite their established presence in the market, they struggled with cash flow management, operational inefficiencies, and stagnant growth. In 2023, they partnered with Scott from SK Business Coaching to overcome these challenges and grow the business in a more sustainable, profitable way.

The Challenge

Situation: Everything Screen Doors & More faced a series of challenges including sluggish revenue growth, high operational costs, and poor cash flow due to the seasonal nature of their business. Additionally, their accounting processes were outdated, and their marketing efforts were reliant solely on direct mail, which limited their customer reach.
Goals: The main goals were to improve cash flow management, increase profit margins, shift to more streamlined systems, and expand marketing strategies beyond direct mail.

The Solution

Approach: At SK Business Coaching, I worked closely with Everything Screen Doors & More to develop a coaching plan tailored to their business model and seasonal challenges. This plan focused on improving financial management,
modernising their accounting systems, and transitioning to a more digital marketing strategy.

Key Actions:
o Transitioned from MYOB to Xero: Moving from a desktop MYOB setup to Xero allowed for more efficient financial management and smoother operations. This transition also led to replacing their old bookkeeper with a new admin/bookkeeper, who has been a strong addition to the team.
o Enhanced Cash Flow Management: We implemented detailed cash flow tracking to accommodate the business’s seasonal nature and worked with suppliers to extend credit terms and limits, ensuring smoother cash flow.
o Shifted from Direct Mail to Digital Marketing: We expanded their marketing efforts by moving from solely direct mail to digital marketing, including tracking conversions. This shift allowed them to discover a high rate of referrals and repeat customers, which led to further marketing optimisation.
o Debt Reduction: By improving their financial systems and focusing on profitability, we successfully paid off all ATO and Superannuation debt, putting the business on solid financial footing.
